How different our childhood was from that of today’s kids! Internet, smartphones, streaming – hardly any science fiction movie of the 80s could have even imagined what’s commonplace for kids and teens today. So good that there are still things that connect us. Fish sticks are one such classic, which has been popular with children for generations. And it is by no means just the little ones who are into it, right? Today, we’re going to show you how to make fish sticks yourself – and we don’t just mean frying them….

What you need

200 g boneless pollock fillet (or cod fillet)
Lemon juice
salt and pepper
2½ tablespoons flour
1 egg
breadcrumbs
1½ tablespoons canola oil

And this is how it works

.

Cut the fillet into strips in fish stick format.

Salt and pepper the fillet pieces and sprinkle with a little lemon juice.

For the breading: crack the egg over a plate and whisk it, then turn the fillet strips in flour, pull them through the egg and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

Fry in a pan with the oil until golden brown (but watch out, they tend to burn quickly).
