You Just Have To Try This Recipe: Chili Cheese Lasagna!

There aren’t that many favorite dishes that kids and adults can agree on, but lasagna is definitely one of them! No wonder, after all, it’s hard to decide what’s the best ingredient in it – the bechamel sauce, the minced meat filling, or the pasta, perhaps? Surely more than a few would say that the cheese crust is the be-all and end-all. So how about we just turn up the “cheese slider” to pimp our lasagna? The result is a real blast of flavor! We’ll show you how…

What you need

For the cheese sauce:

33 fl. oz milk
1 oz butter
1,5 oz flour
salt and pepper
lime juice, nutmeg
1 package of slice cheese (e.g. cheddar)

For the filling:

Olive oil
1 lb minced meat, mixed
1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 can peeled or strained tomatoes (28 oz)
1 small can of kidney beans (7 oz)
jalapeños to taste

For layering and topping:
5 – 10 lasagne sheets
1 package of sliced cheese (e.g. cheddar)
Sprinkled cheese (Emmental, Cheddar or Gouda)
Sliced avocado for arranging

And here’s how!

Chop the onions and fry them briefly, then add the minced meat.

Gradually add the chopped garlic, tomato paste, peeled/strained tomatoes and kidney beans and jalapeños, if desired, and simmer for a few minutes.

Melt the butter in a saucepan, gradually stir in the flour and add the milk.

Season with nutmeg, salt, pepper and lime juice.

Add the slice of cheese and let it melt, stirring constantly.

In a baking dish, layer the lasagna by alternating minced meat mixture and pasta sheets with cheese slices.

Finally, pour the cheese sauce over the lasagna and sprinkle with cheese to cover; serve with sliced avocados.
