It’s really that simple: Kalter Hund, a German delicacy!

If you are of German origin and think of Kalter Hund, do you also see images of your own childhood and youth flicker before your mind’s eye as if filmed with a Super 8 camera? A long afternoon at grandma’s, and at 3 p.m. the cake is served…. But you probably didn’t know how to prepare this sweet delicacy until now. Our recipe shows: It’s actually quite simple! Even if it tasted best at Grandma’s, of course.
What you need
10 oz Dark Chocolate
7 oz Milk Chocolate
2/3 cups Whipping Cream
1/2 cups Coconut Oil
4 oz Butter Biscuits
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (optional)
And here’s how!
Break the chocolate into small pieces.
Place the chocolate, cream and coconut oil in a small saucepan, melt over low heat and stir until smooth.
Line a loaf pan with baking paper, pour in a thin layer of the chocolate mixture and smooth it out.
Spread a layer of cookies on top of the chocolate mixture, then follow with another thin layer of chocolate mixture.
Repeat the process until the mold is filled; important: the last layer should be chocolate.
Cover the mold and refrigerate for about 5 hours; serve cold.
